Veterans Day Parade November 2019
Riverfest 2019
We celebrated the Riverfest again for the second. This year we were in the children's area teach or showing the kids how to fold the United States flag. Several post members manned the booth over the two (2) period. Thank you to all that participated.
Vietnam Legacy Veterans POW/MIA Memorial Highway Dedication

A dedication Ceremony for a portion of Highway 41A today, August 14, 2019, at Patriot Park in Clarksville, Tennessee. A portion of Fort Campbell Blvd Hwy 41A, was renamed “Vietnam Legacy Veterans POW/MIA Memorial Highway. Two Signs were uncovered, one on the north bound lanes (Tiny Town Rd) and the south bound lanes at the Tennessee/Kentucky state line.

The new name is meant to honor the dedication and sacrifice of the brave men and women of Montgomery County who valiantly served their country in the U.S armed forces and gave their lives as prisoners of war in the Vietnam War.
Tennessee State Representative Jason Hodges, State Senator Bill Powers and Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts attended the ceremony and spoke to the over 35 people, most of them veterans.

Seven members of American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289 and two members of American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Auxiliary Unit 289 attended the ceremony. The members from the post were: Commander David Zeveney, 1st Vice Bob Grigsby, 2nd Vise Ernest Schmidt, Finance Officer Larry Johnson, Membership Chairperson Tony Walter, Service Officer John Beck and Chaplain Carmen Cherry. Auxiliary members that attended were Treasurer Sue Johnson and Chaplain Fae Cherry.

Mayor Summer Nights

This summer, Clarksville created fun times for the family and kids around all the neighborhoods. They called it Summer Nights Lights. The Mayor of  Clarksville had the idea to get families and kids together with the businesses at local parks. Vendors from all over Clarksville came to help our community. Summer Night Lights was from June 3 through July 24 on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:30PM to 8:00PM.
Businesses, organizations, and churches were encouraged to participate by hosting an activity for youth and teens.

Each night featured a variety of free activities including: Arts and crafts, A DJ, Health and job information booths, Inflatables, Motivational speakers, Sports tournaments, and  much more!

American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289 in participated in two of the nights. We talked about Americanism. We taught families and children how to fold the flag and why it was folded that way.
