Armed Forces Day 2020 (May 16) at Mission BBQ in Clarksville, TN. The color guard from American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289, was honored to be invited to present the colors at their daily noon time National Anthem presentation. The team was (L-R) Tony Saluzzo, Douglas Kirby, Chuck Wagoner, and Larry Johnson. Also present was team member John Beck with his restored WW2 vintage Jeep and trailer.
May 23 - Thank you to American Legion Post 7 and their Commander Chuck Clark for continuing the tradition of providing flags and coordinating with Greenwood Cemetery, many Scouting packs and troops to place the flags at Veterans burial markers. Greenwood Cemetary
American Legion CSM Gary W Crisp Post 289 Commander David Zeveney was joined by members Chuck Wagoner, Tony Anthony Walters, Douglas Kirby and Billie Zeveney as well as other volunteers including Jason DeQuenne to cover 3 areas within the cemetery.

Clarksville’s American Legion Post 289 Graduates Cub Scouts American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289 Own Cub Scout Pack 510 graduated their pack Webelos with the coveted “Arrow of Light” The Arrow of Light is the highest rank you can earn as a Cub Scout and it is the only award that crosses as you move to the Scouts,” Cub Scout Committee Chair Ernest Schmidt said.
Pack 510 has met at Barkers Mill Elementary School off tiny town road but due to the Covid-19 den meetings have moved to online.
The Arrow of Light badge is placed under the pocket of the Scout’s shirt. Makeya Spears was awarded her Arrow of light with patch and her arrow by Douglas Kirby, The Post Scouting Chair at Post 289. Makeya crossed over to Troop 21, one of Clarksville’s only girl troops.
Cub Master George Hutton received a certificate of appreciation for his untiring work as Cub Master with Pack 510.
Cub Scouting is part of the American Legion’s Americanism program According to David Zeveney, Commander of Post 289.The Legion has supported scouting since 1919. Mr. Schmidt is the Scouting Chairperson for the Department of Tennessee and said Post 289 also chartered a Boy Scout Troop 289 and we have officially started recruiting for the Troop as well as the Pack. Troop 289 meets at Daymar College but they also meet on line for now.
A Pack 510 Tiger Scout Jeremiah Slover also received his graduation certificate from the Tiger Patrol and crossed over to become a Wolf during a ceremony Monday night.

TALARC
Post 289 will have it's first amateur radio net Tuesday, July 14. We will be using the 2M band AA4TA repeater at 146.925. The net will be held every 2nd Tuesday at 7PM CT.
All licensed amateur radio operators are welcome to join. It is not necessary to be a member of the American Legion but we do need members that are licensed for our own TALARC affiliated club.
Radio should be set up with CTCSS tone 110.9Hz and a minus transmit offset of .6Mhz.
